To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, the Alexa developer marketing team collaborated with PR to launch the Women in Voice campaign, a curated series of profiles highlighting nine women developers who are leading innovators in Alexa’s voice-design community.

Project background
Over the span of four weeks leading up to International Women’s Day, profiles showcasing each of the developers were published to the Alexa developer blog.
This campaign culminated in a final blog roundup and the creation of a new landing page on the developer portal, launched on International Women’s Day.
Design strategy
As the lead designer, I defined and executed the visual storytelling, branding, and visual identity behind the Women in Voice campaign.
I also supported the Alexa developer marketing team by creating all of the campaign artwork, social graphics, and visual assets for the developer portal landing page.

Concept
Abstract visual exploration of the physical relationship between movement and sound through the lens of voice design. This vibrant direction celebrates the inventors, the builders, and the leaders – the women who are pushing the boundaries of voice design and redefining the developer landscape with Alexa.
Bold
Contemporary style that challenges binary representations of gender aesthetics. Maximum contrast.
Sophisticated
Elegant color palette. Expressive compositions. Crisp lines and clean geometry. Totally scalable.
Experimental
Combination of 2D & 3D elements. Abstracted voice waves. Bright take on brutalism. Disruptive.

WOMEN IN VOICE DEVELOPER PROFILES
The main content of the campaign was a series of articles published on the Alexa developer blog, profiling nine women in the Alexa developer community who were being celebrated for International Women’s Day 2021.
To support the campaign, I translated the identity I designed into individual sets of graphics per featured developer – including social cards with quotes from each developer, hero images for the profile articles, and spotlight graphics for the Alexa developer newsletter.

Once the creative direction was approved, I partnered with the marketing team to execute all of the campaign graphics for the Alexa developer blog, newsletter, social channels, and new developer portal landing page that was successfully launched in time for International Women’s Day 2021.
